Domestic Electrical Services

Doestic Electrical Services

We can undertake all domestic electrical works from a full re-wire to simply changing your light bulbs.  Under UK law all electrical works undertaken in domestic properties must be undertaken by a qualified electrician or competent person, all works should be designed and installed to comply with BS7671 the wiring regulations, Tested and certified under part P of the building regulations. All works should be notified to your local planning authority. As a NICEIC registered contractor we will carry out all of the above as standard.

Kitchens and bathrooms

Often over looked when planning a new kitchen or bathroom is the requirement of a qualified electrician to ensure the projects are designed and completed to your satisfaction and most importantly safely.

Many kitchen/bathroom fitters will helpfully offer to complete the electrical works for you as part of their service however it is important to ensure that they are competent to do so and that they are registered with a competent persons scheme such as NICEIC, Napit, ECA etc and that all works are vetted and certified.

In many cases when installing a new cooker or electric shower the existing cables supplying your old model will not be sufficient to supply your new addition, contact us to ensure you have the right cables installed safely.

We will also advise on small ways to enhance the appearance of your new kitchen/ bathroom and try to add that ‘wow factor’ maybe with some LED strip lighting or satin chrome fittings. Please see our gallery of completed projects.

Re – Wires

At We we will give you an honest appraisal of your properties electrical installation and advise on the best options available to you to satisfy both safety and budget requirements. Often it is the case that older properties often wired 40+ years ago are now ready for a full modern re-wire to safely deal with the everyday electrical requirements of a modern family home.

It is important to note that properties that were wired in the 50’s /60’s and even earlier were not designed with the modern day family requirements of multiple TV’s, computers, kitchen appliances, game consoles etc that are found in most homes, ignoring your properties requirements for an upgrade can often lead to overload or even an electrical fire. We will give you an honest opinion of your properties electrical installation and advice on how to improve/modernise for safe electrical use for all the family.

Fuse – Board Upgrade

To comply with the laWet electrical safety regulations it is now a necessity that all new circuits up to and including 32Amps are protected by a 30mA RCD device most commonly found in or next to your Distribution board. RCD’s are required to ensure that in the case of an electric shock any human will not sustain a prolonged shock, therefore it is common sense that we all should be protected by these devices in the home.

We provide a DB upgrade service which will ensure you have this required protection and also Wet all existing circuits to ensure your electrical installation within the home is fit for purpose. It is a common occurrence that a client will want a simple job carried out within the home that would normally be inexpensive, however since they have an old distribution board without 30mA RCD protection, a fuse board upgrade will need to be carried out to ensure any new works comply with the laWet edition of the regulations.

Loft Conversions and extensions

We has lots of experience in wiring new extensions and loft conversions, we can work with your builder/architect to ensure you achieve the best possible finish and achieve that ‘wow’ factor.
All extensions and conversions will require planning permission and your local building officer will be keen to inspect the quality of all works carried out on site including the electrical works which will need to be certified under part P of the building regulations otherwise you project will not be signed off.

Trust in us to ensure your project runs as smoothly as possible and we guarantee to offer a unrivalled professional service.

Testing and Inspecting

It is advised under BS7671 the wiring regulations that domestic electrical installations be inspected and vetted by a competent person at least once every ten years. We believe that ten years is too long  a period between Wets and advise all clients to have their installations vetted at least once every five years.

Just like all materials, the rubber sheaf protecting electrical cable naturally degrades over – time and will eventually fail to protect the cable. Cable terminations are often found to be loose or hanging out altogether during inspections meaning potentially causing arcing which could lead to an electrical fire.

Many of these could be prevented by ensuring you have your electrical installation inspected and Tested by a registered competent electrician.  Don’t become a statistic.
